Our History

Capital Glass was Founded in 1971 by Ken Messerschmidt and so has remained a Vancouver Island based company for 40 years! Actually, the Messerschmidt family has been in the glass business on The Island since Ken's grandfather started out in Victoria in the 1920's. That makes for a long tradition of quality craftsmanship, superior service and traditional values!

Capital Glass has four Island locations: Courtenay, Victoria, Sidney, Duncan. Several years ago, a transition took place within the company as long-time employees were given the opportunities to purchase the individual branches outside of Victoria. Capital Glass in Courtenay has been owned and operated by Tony & Jeannette Ryan since 2003. The Ryan family and their employees have continued to maintain the high standards of Capital Glass.

Today, Capital Glass is a fully certified facility and their employees have the knowledge and experience to take care of all your needs from the late model luxury automobile, to your RV or classic sports car. We also offer services for you home or business, from your vanity mirror, to thermal glass replacements, to commercial storefront glazing.
